Did any of you guys receive an e-mail saying you could change your housing assignment? I did...just wondering if anyone did?

I got one too. It's wierd how they say that a Unit 1 Triple in Suite only costs $9995 whenever it cost a lot more on the housing website.

Oddly enough, I didn't get this e-mail. If it matters, I got Bowles (not first choice).

Yup. Reapplied for Unit 3 double, instead of triple.

Erm, how come I didn't get one?

A friend who got a triple at Unit 3 also recieved the e-mail. I am going to Foothill, and I didn't get it. Something tells me they are trying to encourage students to transfer to buildings where they have higher level of vacancies.

there are vacancies in dorms? I thought there were totally filled?

I am not sure, but if they are already allowing transfers there must be at least some source of flexibility out there.

oh wow and they turned away like 300 fall extension students for housing. they said there wasnt enough space in the dorms...

"I am not sure, but if they are already allowing transfers there must be at least some source of flexibility out there."

Transfer students get one year guaranteed housing.
Spring admits are guaranteed housing spring semester, but not fall semester.

Well, I am just guessing. I might completely wrong.

I got the e-mail and transferred from Unit 3 triple to Unit 1 double suite. The cost went from $9950 to over $13K. The e-mail said they were making room for spring admits.

Actually, the e-mail says their making room for fall-extension's, I don't know if there's a difference.

Yeah, fall extension needs housing (only 250 out of 450+ people got housing).

So a little over 250 Fall Extension students got housing out of about 650 or 687 students?

My number is#429......you think that it is not possible they'll open up that much housing to get to my number? I'm really wondering whether I should wait or not or just put in my deposit for the damn private rooming house. And I realllllllllllly want a dorm. Are a lot of people switching over?

If you can respond quickly, THANKS A LOT!

Don't count on it. I know roughly 50% of Fall Extension students were offered housing, and roughly two-thirds of the 650 Fall Extension freshmen applied for housing, thus the 250 person estimate (I think that is actually closer to the actual number of people offered housing than the staple 50%). Anyway, the housing department has said it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY a second round of housing offers will be sent out, so I think you're SOL.

i got a clark kerr triple and i didnt recieve this housing e-mail

i have a feeling foothill & clark kerr kids didn't get this--seems to be for the units?

Yeah, I think people already in the Units might have been notified as to make more space in the Units. Putting a Fall Extension student in Bowles or Clark Kerr would be very inconvenient.

Oh I just called Calhousing Rentals and the woman said it's much more likely or as I quote "highly likely" for fall extension students to receive housing because people go abroad, move to sorority/frat houses, dont like their room mates, etc. I dont know how much I can count on that but that's just what she told me.

She was really helpful and said that no one really has any idea what's going on right now. And the email sent out was to alleviate the overbooking situation. And if you want spring housing, it'll most likely be a triple.

alright laterr
