housing envy

what housing arrangements for freshmen make other students jealous? are there certain residential colleges or rooms that are known to be really nice?

I'd really really really like to get into Forbes!

matthey/rocky are pretty coveted. it will be interesting to see how the dynamic changes this next year with whitman.

why on earth do you want to be in forbes?

I stayed in Forbes Addition during April Hosting, and I cannot think of a worse place to be assigned. I'm hoping for Matthey.

FOOLS! Go for Whitman! There is treasure hidden at the bottom of the Murley-Pivirotto family tower! TREASURE I SAY!

The last one there with a shovel is a wanker...

Pretty much all the colleges have buildings that are good and bad.
Mathey: Blair, Little, and Hamilton have all been recently renovated, and are generally nice because of this. Edwards isn't too bad either, but only has singles and a few doubles. Joline and Campbell are older and haven't been renovated for a while, so the lighting and bathrooms (location and to a smaller extent quality) could be better.
Rocky: Holder and Witherspoon are both extremely nice, both having been renovated recently. Witherspoon generally has huge rooms with a good location--you really can't go wrong with 'spoon. Holder was also renovated very recently, but the freshman rooms are generally pretty small there. Rocky's part of Campbell is just like Mathey's: nothing too special.

I'm not really qualified to say much about the other colleges: I know that 1927/Clapp and Bloomberg are standouts for Wilson and Butler, respectively, but I can't say too much other than that. Forbes Main Inn rooms are generally nice, but vary greatly in size. Some rooms in the Addition/Annex are nicer, but the lighting, view, and distance from the entrance suffer.

If you have any more specific questions (especially about RoMa (Rocky/Mathey)), feel free to ask.

Feinberg and Walker Hall (Wilson and Butler) are also very nice. Walker is especially nice because there are men's and women's bathrooms on every floor. The singles, however, vary from being larger than some doubles to tiny. Walker also has a nice courtyard and a lot of rooms with views of the courtyard and the terraced walk in back. The number of windows in the rooms vary.

Everyone I know is jealous of the Graduate College!

...but we have to walk pretty far...thank God for the D-bar.

I had a tour of the interior of Whitman last week, and believe me when I say that soon, all housing envy will be relative to Whitman. There's a two-level double, complete with staircase, that has to be seen to be believed.
