housing for a coop semester

S is planning to do a coop semester or year but if it is a year it won't be a continuous year so renting an apartment would be more difficult. He wants to do it in another part of the country and he will not be near his school (or possibly any school) home or family.. His school has been positive about this being possible to arrange but my question is what have students done for housing when working a coop semester in this situation?

It depends. Companies that regularly have co-op students may have housing as part of the offer. But most colleges will also be fully versed in how to advise students based on previous co-op students’ experiences.

Craigslist, and various roommate sites. There are some areas, such as DC, that have a constant stream of people coming and going and sublets for a term are easy to find.
