im planning to go to ut austin next year and am wondering what housing i should look into. i want to be around other girls who are gonna be in a sorority but srd and hardin house are out because they are already filled up. what would you all suggest? space and distance isnt really a concern, its mostly where am i gonna fit in the best and where am i gonna meet the most people

University towers is mostly Greek

do a lot of freshman live there?

it is predominantly freshman. I would venture to guess over 90%.
my d lived there her frosh year, and many to most went greek. It is a party dorm, very social. She loved it.

Everyone at UT will tell you not to live at Towers unless you’re a very brave girl. It’s mostly frat guys, and there is free flowing alcohol all over the place. One kid actually fell off a balcony and died a few years ago. To make the story short, even if you want to be involved in Greek life, live somewhere other than Towers.

Just this weekend, I heard a girl at Jester talking on her phone: “…and then I’m going to Towers to pre-game…”

Also, some frat-looking guy dressed in all neon clothes asked me for directions to Towers… I was surprised that he didn’t already know where it was, haha.

Towers is disgusting! Don’t live there! @soadquake981 he was probably drunk because if that happened this past weekend it was Round Up and everyone basically was. Most sorority girls live in SRD and Hardin, both are already filled and people have already turned in contracts. Sucks for you.

Try Scotish-Rite or Hardin House!

freshman12…it does not “suck” for you. Just relax and live on campus at this point. In every single dorm in the UT network, there are people that participate in Greek Life. I agree that a great majority of sorority girls live in SRD and Hardin, but is certainly is not a requirement for recruitment.

why exactly would you not want to live there if you were a girl?

Don’t live at Towers if you are a girl! It is disgusting and the walls are basically infested with STDs. I lived at Hardin last year and absolutely loved it!
