Housing for a study abroad student

Hi there-

My good friend from England is going to Irvine next year as a study abroad student. If he wants to get the most 'typical' sophomore/junior housing, what should he look for? Do sophomores or juniors live in the on campus apartments? He was looking at the Campus Village, and also at Vista del Campo (which I think is privately owned?) and the latter looked a lot nicer. Thoughts on where he should live? (He's about the age of a college junior/ he'll be 21 when he's over there, not sure if that makes a difference)

Thanks guys.

Anyone? Want to say where you're living sophomore/junior year, where your friends are living, where you tour guide said you might live?

there's this house in AV called the International Village where they house all the transfer students from out of the country... but i'm not sure about study abroad students.
