I was wondering where most of the Guaranteed Transfers spend their first year on campus. I've heard that they are generally grouped together in Hasbrooke Apartments or Townhouses and that it's hard to get on West Campus. I was hoping that this is not the case since I really want to be on West Campus when I come to Cornell (I'm a current HS Senior who was recently offered the GT option). One of my good friends from Summer College will be attending Cornell and we were hoping to room together sophomore year on West Campus, when I transfer to Cornell.

Hasbrouck is graduate student housing and will no longer be an option for undergrad students. It was just a temporary fix for transfers.

Beginning this year, transfers will be housed in groups and spread throughout the West Campus housing system. All incoming transfers are guaranteed housing as the housing office has reserved beds for incoming students.

Thanks dewdrop87! That's great to hear about being on West Campus. So I'm guessing that I won't be able to room with my friend, since you said that transfers will be housed in groups, but it sounds like we could be very close on West Campus. Thanks again

Probably unlikely that you could share a room with your friend, but you could possibly end up in the same dorm. West Campus isn't very big and so seeing your friend won't be a problem.

I know throughout this school year a lot of transfers were placed in 14 South, but i know a lot of other transfers were placed in Bethe? I'm not sure if that's how it's gonna be this year

Groups of about 15-25 transfers will be blocked together in 14 South, The Gothics, and House 5 (I think the whole first floor has been reserved for transfers). Transfers will not be blocked in Cook, Becker, Bethe, or Keeton, but there will be many transfers in the West Campus house system.

Transfers won't be blocked in Cook, Becker, Bethe and Keeton? I thought that transfers were housed with other transfers no matter what. That's kind of unfortunate.

Cook, Becker, Bethe and Keeton are probably full with returning Cornell students. Transfers will be blocked together in available housing on West so they'll be together in that sense.
