How does housing work for married couples? Do we need to get off campus housing or do they have accommodations for married couples? Also what DOES housing run in Lubbock?

Housing is pretty decent in Lubbock, compared from where I transferred from in Lubbock. My fiance and I live in a decent apartment at a good price. Apartments range from $400 to $1,000 plus, with an average of $500-$600/month. A lot of places include utilities and free wi-fi.

Renting a house is cheap as well, but the rates for water are SKY HIGH!! Our electric bill is lower than our water bill.

Because I am an engineering student, I stay on the far west side of town…it is more calm, and away from all the partying! I like my study time. My commute is under 5 minutes.

Thank you so much for the info, I greatly appreciate that. I guess we’ll be having to take Venezuelan showers! We would be looking for something calm, we are both there to earn our degrees & excel, partying is not even remotely close to what we are looking for. Sounds very reasonably priced too.

Same here. I would suggest Deerfield Village apartments if you want an apartment. Not a lot of students here so the area is very quiet. There are lots of greenery as well which is rare in Lubbock!

Parkings are oversized, and the commute is about 5 minutes. Walmart, Sam’s, Costco, Petsmart, United Supermarket, target, and much more are just minutes away as well!

Looking forward to visiting Lubbock in a 2 weeks. Definately going to look around. The prices seem VERY reasonable, especially considering how much housing is in Austin.

I agree, I came from Houston! The west side of town is by far the best to be in, and its safe as well.

My fiance and I seen a TON of apartments when we were planning on moving here.

Just stay away from Elm Creek, and the Genoa Gardens complexes. They pull carpets after your lease, and even if its a small water stain, they charge $3,000 to replace carpet! Just FYI…someone told us that and per reviews, its true!

I also came from Austin last fall ('13) with a wife and toddler. Housing here is very reasonable compared to there. I hope you don’t mind dust…

We visited on Dec 16th. The campus was mostly empty as semester was over & most students were gone. However, we did the campus tour & more importantly I was able to speak with someone from the Honors College who answered all my questions. All in all, we were very impressed with TTU & their Honors College. Lubbock on the hand…well let’s just say it left much to be desired. It reminded of the city I live in, McAllen, only in the '70s.
I have yet to receive my admission packet so it’s way past the 3-4 weeks I was told it would take. I will be calling them first thing Jan 2nd in the morning. I would be very honored to be admitted to their Honors College. We’ll see how things pan out. On a negative note it appears I would have to be moving up alone. :-(

If you do want to live on campus, next Fall they are opening up West Hall which I believe has married housing and 21 and older housing. You can reserve your room now; details at housing.ttu.edu

@Redraidergirl This is a bit late, but just in case someone comes around and see’s this thread. West Hall doesn’t have married housing, but they do have housing geared towards students 21+.
