Hello All,
My daughter has finally selected SDSU and we’ve accepted the offer (fees paid)
Now, she is looking for the roommate(s).
It says on the SDSU Portal that Stage II application for housing must be completed by May 31, 2020.
Does this mean - she has to find roommate by that date?
What should I do after - the quarantine will probably be extended til the Fall 2020
(couldnt find this info on their website).
In case if it’ll be extended even further - I have concerns - about paying for on-campus living, knowing that my daughter will study online…
Should I contact them directly? What do you do if you have a “newbee” student?
Sorry, I have never studied in US
This whole process is a complete puzzle to me, even w/o COVID-19
The university my daughter will be attending has given the students the option of deferring their payment until August. Has your student received any emails from the housing department with that kind of offer? I would hold off paying that fee for as long as possible.
@intyel1994: I would email housing to confirm about the roommate selection but based on my experience, the students usually have until the final room assignment in August to list a roommate. My son found his roommate during Freshman orientation in July so they both requested the same LLC, double and exchanged Red ID#’s so they were assured of getting the same room.
My son also accepted admission to SDSU and when we committed the first step of housing and paid the 350 fee it said to come back after May 4th to complete step 2 -which was where you should pick which dorm you prefer - how many roommates you prefer - which learning community (if any) you want - which meal plan you want, ect., and then I believe the roommate search begins. However, when he logged in yesterday - it states this step is being delayed (Guessing it’s due to them not even knowing if people will be on campus in the fall) so he could not enter his choices for all those things. He has not begun a search at all for a roommate - is completely cool to be randomly assigned with one if he gets the Engineering group housing. However, he is honestly still holding on to hope to get off the waitlist at Cal or Cal Poly anyway.
