Housing for Transfer

Hi, i am transferring to USF in the Fall

I just wanted some input on where a good place to live off campus would be. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

looking for a safe & close to campus apts

Choose your off campus housing very carefully. And your roommates even more so. In the one I lived in back when i was at USF we had the cops called constantly, a stabbing and a shooting all in one semester. One of my students lived in one last year and had many problems including a roommate who threw parties and had drugs in the apt. The leasing company refused to let him out of the lease or to move unless he found a subletter and then signed a second lease. The leases are often very restrictive and hard to break. Once you find one you like visit late at night on Friday and Sat nights. Everything is pretty at noon on a Tuesday when tenants are sleeping or in class. But visiting at night gives you a worst case scenario. Then you can judge if you feel safe in the parking lots etc. good luck!

I heard Sterling is really good and so is Campus Lodge.

I lived my first two years at USF in campus housing…Castor and Maple. My last two years I lived across the street from USF in non-campus housing…On50 Apartments. The best thing with On50 was proximity to campus…could walk to campus easily and the BullRunner bus stopped at entrance to apt. complex too. At night sometimes the SafeTeam would drive me over in one of their golfcarts to apt. entrance from library or study hall.

Too, check out some of the apartments affiliated with USF Housing. These apts. probably have some pluses like USF Police Dept patrolling that you wouldn’t have at other off campus housing.
