Housing for transfers?

I'm a prospective transfer student. Since I have less than 30 hours I won't get my acceptance letter until June (assuming all goes well and I end up getting accepted which, judging from the people I have asked, I should if I play my cards right). I'm confused as to how this will effect my housing plans. I planned on living on-campus since I wanted to enjoy the traditional college experience and wanted to be next to the Communications building (I'm hopefully majoring in Film). I wanted to know how my late acceptance will effect if I get a housing contract.

Also, if nothing works out and I can't get a housing contract, what are some other options near campus? Keep in mind I don't have a car (don't want one either) and I don't know how to ride a bike. I can use a bus if I have to but again I am a film student and want to be somewhat next to the Communications building.

One more thing: My cousin has a house in Manor and offered to let me room with him for $300 a month. As stated before I don't have a car so I was wondering if the bus system would extend to Manor and, if I decided to room with my cousin, if I could get by without a car and still be involved in the film community.

You should apply for housing immediately - like tonight. You do not need to wait for acceptance to apply for housing. They place students in on campus housing based on the date they applied for housing, not the date the student got accepted to UT. The only thing you have to pay when you apply for housing is $50.00 and that is all you would lose if for some reason you don’t get accepted to UT or decide not to live on campus.

Can you do a housing app even though your application isn’t finished? I sent in my transcripts yesterday electronically and most of my application is done. Just waiting to hit that submit button after I get my essays looked at (which I’m pretty happy with). After that I just need to submit a resume (shouldn’t take long since I have like nothing on there besides my job at Best Buy) and I should be good.

You can submit your housing application once your UT application is complete and you are told it is complete on Be A Longhorn status page.

I was looking at some of the other options. Can anybody explain what exactly the Co-Ops are and how they work? Also, what are the sizes of the rooms?
