SDSU has an Interest List for upper division students who are looking for on campus housing. I added myself to it, but I know all freshmen and non-local sophomores are prioritized over me. Is anyone aware of how common it is for juniors to get on campus housing? Is it rare? Should I be ok to get a room or should I look into other housing options?
By upper div, do you mean you’re a local sophomore or a junior? With mandatory sophomore housing taking up so much space, I don’t know of anyone who is a local sophomore or local/non-local junior or senior who lives in university housing besides staff. There’s plenty of apartments in the neighborhood in which upper div students live. I’d contact housing directly for their input (they’re helpful with such questions). They’ll be fair about your chances, especially if you ask them directly whether you should just plan on moving into one of the apartment buildings adjacent to campus. You’ll want to do that soon as there are a lot of local kids who have lived in the dorms freshman year, but since they’re local, won’t get on-campus housing sophomore year.
