I’m most likely going to be attending the University of Alabama in the fall, and I just have a couple of questions.

1) I made the Honors College, and was wondering which dorms were the Honors dorms? And do I have to pay the full $4,000 a semester for them. I got a $14,000 scholarship but my parents aren’t really willing to pay for the expensive dorms, so I’ll probably have to go in the cheaper ones. I was just confused on the Honors/non-Honors dorms, so any info will be very helpful.

2) I definitely want to rush in the all, but I’ve heard they’re really expensive, like over $2,000 a semester. Is this correct? And which frats should I look into? (Based on involvement, cost, hazing, etc.)

Thanks so much!

Well if you are in state…the scholarship should cover most of your housing since tuition is $3950 per semester. The Honors dorms are really nice- Lakeside, Riverside, Ridgecrest. They are suite style…each person has their own bedroom and then 2 people share a bath. Suites can be 2 or 4 person. All have a common area and kitchen with full refrigerator and microwave. The other dorms are much cheaper and older. Also, if you don’t live in Honors your Freshman year you can’t move into Honors for your sophomore year…if you are still living on campus. Both of my girls have lived in the Honors dorms for 2 years and love it…so convenient and nice size rooms plus they like they privacy of having their own room. As for fraternities, I have no idea. My friend’s son is in one and it was about $2500 per semester. You may be able to find out more info at [Greek Life](http://www.greeklife.ua.edu). Good luck!!

The fraternities also hold a Preview Weekend on March 26th. If you are interested in Greek life at UA I would suggest you attend. You can register a [Greek Life](http://www.greeklife.ua.edu).
