Housing Guaranteed for Freshmen?

Is Housing Guaranteed for Freshmen?

Not at all. However, TODAY, Oct. 1 is the first day to apply for housing. Please go online and apply today and pay the $50 deposit. There's a great demand for housing and tomorrow might be too late. You can apply even if you have not applied for admission yet. The fee is not refundable. I applied this morning, along with thousands of others, I'm sure.

Wow thats really good timing for you, apply today! I applied the morning of the first day and I ended up in san jac, and so did like 10 other kids from my high school so do it do it do it now!

so how do you know which dorm you got because i applied and paid at like 6:01 A.M on the ut website but it never asked me which dorm i wanted or which dorm i recieved. Do i have to get admitted first then i choose my dorm or how does the process work out?

Applied as well. All you get is a confirmation that you are on the list.

I did it 10/2, so should be that far behind. However, WHEN do you get to choose your dorm choices? I suspect it is when you are admitted, but that won't be until the spring. When you get admitted, is that when they ask you for your choices and do you get preference if you applied for housing early?

living on campus is overrated ... if you are social you will still meet plenty of people living elsewhere so dont worry about it too much.

That is true, living on campus is highly overrated. You can still meet people if you don't, especially if you're social. I meant most of my friends from class and just randomly being on campus. Living on campus is convenient though and that's not overrated. Also, it's best to apply the first day. Another thing to remember is UT still gives you money to live off campus if you receive financial aid, many students live on campus because they think they'll receive no assistance but this isn't true.

In accordance with your question, housing isn't guaranteed from freshmen, but you do get priority housing. For example, first year students apply on October 1 and current students apply on November 1. Also, UT offers a $50 fee waiver for students that need assistance with the housing application.

Nothing is guarenteed for freshmen, but they do get first dibs so not to worry, there is plenty of housing here on campus, just try not to get jester east, b/c it really does smell bad, I have a girl I know over there and I went to her place and God did it smell awful... the guys wings smell even worse. I live in Jester West and it is perfectly fine, no horrible complaints.
