I have a few questions about Harvard housing. First, when are housing apps due? Next, do all freshmen live with roommates (I don't mean suitemates, but actual roommates). And finally, how do housing assignments change after freshman year?

Thanks!! :)

i don't have any housing apps yet and the website says they'll be available may 15 (and are due june 15)...do you have housing forms? and do you know what other forms are due and by when?

Not all freshmen have roommates, but most do. Some freshman setups include:

-One small single
-One large room for two people
-One small bedroom for each person and a small common room
-Two or three bedrooms with an average of 1.5 or 2 people in them and a decent-sized common room

After freshman year you are randomly assigned to a house. Houses have wildly different arrangements: some have lots of singles, some have duplexes, some have rooms with bars, some have rooms with kitchens, some have rooms that are cramped, some have bad locations but great rooms, some have great locations and awful rooms, etc. Generally sophomore housing is relatively lousy and junior/senior housing is good, but it depends--some houses don't have a lot of disparity between the best and worst rooms, while some do. Some houses reserve the best rooms for upperclassmen, while others rig the lottery to give sophomores, juniors, and seniors more equal picks.

kylebev, I don't have the housing application- I think that it's only available online. And the due dates for the other forms are in the acceptance packet.

Phoenixy thanks for that reply!
