I am looking for a single bedroom with private bathroom....Is it possible to get one of these? Or am I just kidding myself. It doesn't matter if I have to live in substance free housing or whatever....If so, what are the possibilities and how should I arrange it? Thanks! :)

Probably not. The closest you can come will be East Wheelock, which I’m pretty sure has suites with private rooms and a bathroom shared between the 2-4 people who live in the suite. They’re really nice and have a shower and everything. In regular campus housing you can probably get triples with private bathrooms which have a toilet, no shower though.
Then again, you have to decide whether you really want to live in EW at all…
also, when you get to college you’ll realise you really don’t care if your bathrooms in your room or ten steps out the door into the hallway.

Single yes, private bath no.

Do you have some specific, i.e. physical reason why you need a single with a private bath? If so, you should explain the situation to the Admissions Office who will probably put you in contact with the Office of Residential Life. I’m not sure if that type of accommodation is even available at Dartmouth, but if you have a good reason- other than that’s what you’d prefer- it would definitely be worthwhile to check it out.

Keep in mind that freshmen rooms in the McLaughlin cluster are two room doubles with a bathroom (containing one shower and toilet) shared by several people. The roommates there often decide to each take a room, rather than designating one for sleeping and one for a living/studying area. So you basically have your own room with a bath outside your door. I’m sure there must be times when you have to wait your turn for the bathroom, but whenever I’ve visited my daughter’s hall it hasn’t seemed to be a problem.

Also go the the Office of Residential Life web page here. You can find out all kinds of interesting housing information, including floor plans of the various dorms.

^ well no…i am an extreme germophobe. LOL…and i think sharing restrooms is disgusting.

Good! Everybody needs someone like you on their floor to make sure the bathroom stays nice and clean. :>)

bathrooms are cleaned daily

I think you should look into therapy. Seriously.

How will you ever travel?

Everybody at Duke gets a single with a private bath. You should go there.

what about if you want to live in substance free dorms? this year i hear they are in judge? how are the dorms in that building?
