Housing in general and also specifically for transfers

First, which dorms are air conditioned?

Secondly, as a transfer student, if I send in my housing deposit by July 1, I am eligible for on campus housing on a first come first serve basis. How likely is it that I will get on campus housing if I submit the deposit within the next month?

Third (sorry for all the questions), as a student accepted into the honors program, if I was wanted to live on an honors floor, would there be any all female honors floors?

Lastly, how long does it take to walk across campus or just to class? At my current school its like 20 minutes to get across campus.

Thanks for your help. Sorry about all the questions.

Anderson is definately air-condinitioned.

My freshman son at AU was tripled this past year, because housing was so tight.

Here is thread about the new housing policy

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/american-university/845224-housing-policy-change.html?highlight=transfer</a></p>

And another thread from last year about transfer housing.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/american-university/727113-housing-waiting-list.html?highlight=transfer</a></p>

The honors floor my son is on is co-ed. I don’t remember hearing about any single gender floors at AU, but I don’t know.

Walk across main campus is quick, less than 10 minutes. But Tenley campus (mentioned in housing thread) is 20 minutes or a bus ride away.

In order:

They’re all air conditioned.

Dunno.

No; all honors floors are co-ed, as far as I know.

10 minutes max, unless you’re slow.

a) They’re all airconditioned, DC summers are hot and with it’s proximity to the capitol, it would be unrealistic for them not to be airconditioned.

b) You WILL NOT get on campus housing if you send in your housing deposit by July 1. If you submit it today you MIGHT…MAYBE get on campus housing but it will in all likelihood be on Tenley. At this point the entire 2014 class is finalized and (for the most part) and have put their housing deposit down. I would send it in now. Like this afternoon.

c) No. You can live on an all female floor, or an all honors floor. As an honors student it might boost your chances of getting on campus housing but I’m not sure.

d) 7-8 minutes if you can speed walk. Pswilla is right – 10 minutes absolute maximum.
