Housing - Living and Learning Community (pre-nursing)

My daughter is going to University of South Carolina Fall 2020 (super excited!) and looking at her housing options. She is a pre-nursing major and looking at Patterson Hall for their Galen Health Fellows Living and Learning Community (LLC), but is considering rooming with a friend who is not pre-nursing – which means my daughter wouldn’t participate in an LLC.

Does anyone know if majority of first year pre-nursing students stay in Patterson Hall (or not)? Don’t want her to miss out if the Galen Health Fellows LLC is a significant part of being a pre-nursing major, but know she is trying to weigh pro’s and con’s. Appreciate any insights y’all are willing to share with us, thank you!

@Arnee1966 dont that much about pre nursing but I do know Patterson is one of the most popular dorms. I was told you have to prioritize LLC or roommate and if both don’t get into the LLC you may not be put together. This is the one thing about USC I have found so far that I don’t like.

Thanks for your reply, Does anyone know if you have to be in a LLC to request Patterson, or is it open to everyone?

There are normally spots open in every dorm outside of the LLC group. USC dorm selection/priority depends on when you applied.

So my son applied 8/25 and his admissions counselor said he basically has choice where we wants to live.

I heard Patterson is one of the best dorms for my $.02
