My group's lottery number is very low, so it looks like we have many options for housing. We were going to apply for the new Livingston Apts, Busch Apts, and Busch Suites until we found out that students who are admitted to the apts needs to respond before the application for the suites begins. Since the suites are our first choice, I was considering only applying to Busch Suites; do you think this is a good idea? Should I not consider Livingston Apts or the Busch Apts at all?

Also, is each student provided with a new ID card every year?

If your number is low, and your first choice is Busch suites, I would only apply to the suites.

If you apply to the apartments first, and you make the cutoff, your next step is to choose a space. Once you actually choose a space, you are committed to that space and cannot participate in further selections. Once all the spaces have been selected in a category, it is done and they go on to the next one. You cannot use it as a backup and go back to it if you do not like your suites choice.

How many people are you? The suites are for 6 and the apartments are for 4, but you can sign up as 2 or 4 for the apartments (and there are a few 3s) and 2, 4 & 6 for the suites, in which case they would fill the rest of your space with random doubles.

You do not get a new ID card every year. If you want a new one, it is $15 and I think they will deactivate your old one.

Do you know which suite is the “best” one? I know they have the same exact floor plan and everything, but for instance, Crosby is the farthest one away from the dining hall. Morrow seems very quiet (which is a plus for me).

Which suite, do you think, has the highest rating out of Thomas, Judson, Morrow, and Crosby? I won’t be applying to McCormick or Winkler.

The floorplans are exactly the same. I would think that the conditions inside each are also identical. If you’d like to choose based on location, Thomas and Morrow are closest to the BME building, but Judson and Crosby aren’t much farther of a walk. It might be a matter of walking for an extra 30 seconds.

Quietness in a certain building truly depends on who is living there that given year. Upperclassmen housing is a mix of all majors and class years. You could have obnoxious neighbors, or you could have loud ones. In general the suites are quieter than the traditional dorms, so outside noise shouldn’t be much a problem

I have a question. I’m an incoming freshman for the Class of 2016. I will be attending Rutgers in the fall.
I’m going to the School of Arts & Sciences for Communication/Media. If I enroll now, what are my chances of getting into the Stonier Residence Hall on College Ave?
I know it’s pretty popular and fills up quickly.
