just wondering if you know the cutoff for quad 3/upperclassmen dorms on college ave?
my lowest number is 3000’s, with max reverse seniority points, would we be able to get in those?
Really hard to be able to predict which exact dorms will fill up first. I assume you are going to be sophomores next year? If so, you have priority for suites and dorms over juniors and seniors.
It is best to apply for everything you may want and then decide as your eligibility is determined. You do not have to accept your selection until you actually choose your space online.
Please post your results when you know. Cutoffs vary by year and it is hard to get an idea of what is possible if no one posts any results.
New for this year is an initiative to allow a few hundred sophomores priority for some apartments, in addition to the seniority system which has been in place the last two years. They are apparently trying to get more sophomores on campus, which I suppose is a good thing rather than ushering them off after freshman year. Unfortunately, this means that rising juniors will be getting the shaft once again, even worse than with the seniority system alone. Will be interesting to see how the housing lottery pans out this year.
quick question for you guys. Group of juniors with 12 seniority points, however lowest lottery numbers is around 3000. What are the odds that we get into one of the cook apartments (like newels, henderson or starkey)? we pretty much know we have no chance for the busch apartments we are just wondering about the cook ones at this point.
I think it is possible. My son was in a group of juniors 2 years ago and their lottery number was high 2000s, maybe 27xx or so. They ended up in Newell in the last building to fill, but Starkey was still available as well.
Definitely have an alternate plan. Not sure how things will turn out if they add sophomores to the mix. That is so weird and kooky. Just making things even more complicated if you ask me.
They don’t have enough housing for everyone; they should deal with it. Just do strict seniority. Someone has to lose unless they build more units. Why try to mix and match different years with different housing choices. Ridiculous.
Ok I’m done lol.
You’ll probably be fine for Cook Apartments with all juniors, but the addition of these sophomores could make it a bit tougher. I remember Cook Apartments ended up going to a few groups which were mixed juniors and sophomores for the past two years. Tough to say though.
And yeah it’s kinda ridiculous that in the four year I have been here the housing process has been different every year haha. From the pure randomness of lottery numbers, to the seniority points, to now the seniority with extra sophomore priority. Glad I managed to finally find a decent off campus place.
Livingston Apartments
2 bedroom: Cutoff all seniors and 809 lottery
3 bedroom: Cutoff all seniors and 909 lottery
4 bedroom: Cutoff all seniors and 2,569 lottery
Some time ago, I had heard comments from a colleague of mine that they had changed their graduation year to gain full seniority points for housing in apartments (4 points for seniors), but is not in fact a senior & will not be graduating next year. This colleague of mine and their group also did the same thing & were able to receive full points as well. My concern is that this is not fair. I know for a fact that this group consists of rising juniors & they explicitly said that they were essentially cheating the housing system to get into Livingston apartments. Their graduation years are probably based on their credits, in which case, I feel there really isn’t anything that can be done at this point, but I thought I would express my concern anyway.

I had attempted to call housing, but they simply said that only the student’s respective Dean (relative to the school they are enrolled in) can change their graduation years. The person I spoke to also said that they do get many complaints and questions regarding this, but they do not deal with it directly and also stated that everyone’s situation is different, so there’s not much they can do about it.
@tinypotato It’s just one of those things that sucks, but you can’t really stop it. Same thing with people registering for classes to save it for their friend who has less credits.
Also, the cutoff for Easton Ave Apartments was 14 seniority points and lottery # 4316
Thanks for posting the info, Rhetorical.
tinypotato that stinks. Another thing people do is switch 2 people within 2 groups if those two people have good numbers, then switch back later. I don’t think housing does anything about that either. Since they are technically allowing it, people are going to do it. It really is annoying.
Another thing people do is request special housing accommodations for things like allergies, asthma, and a bunch of other medical conditions. In the past, they let that person also bring in other friends into the apartment. There was one girl who was posting stuff on fb about it. Not sure if they still allow pulling roommates in. I’m mostly sad and frustrated at the whole situation because I am a rising senior and had hoped to get into Livi. But instead, a junior will be living there & will likely live there again next year as well.
Also, I emailed housing and they told me the second round for Livi apartments had a cut-off of 16 seniorty points and lottery #2755.
Busch’s cut offs are 12 seniority points with lottery #961(?)-I have to double check.
I’m sorry you are disappointed. Were you able to get an apartment at all?
Busch Suites information:
Number of students who applied: 1198
Number of Available Suites: 108
The final eligible group had 18 Total Seniority Points and a Lowest Lottery # of 1436.
Two short questions:
1.) Does anybody have any information regarding cutoffs to the river dorms (esp. Hardenbergh)?
2.) What does the lottery number decide if not applying to a single/double rather than a suite/apartment?
ruthrowaway I do not understand your question #2.
Thank you for that information, spring700.
