housing offered?

It seems I'm in De Neve. Yay :]

hedrick summit was discussed at the beginning of this thread ;)

hedrick hall is the furthest of the halls, and has a dining hall in it.

kenshin: if you get acacia or birch, bring lots of quarters

I've got Hedrick Summit too...isn't that a plaza? That's kind of weird, since my first choice was a residential hall =P But I'm glad that it's new!! :)

res halls are actually in shorter supply this year than plazas, so it's not terribly surprising you got a plaza.
maybe you'll be on my floor! :)

Hedrick Hall - Furthest from campus, has Hedrick Hall as the closest dining facility (get used to california roll mondays and thursdays for lunch).

Dykstra Hall - Closest to campus, has Crossroads (AWESOME burger place) and De Neve Hall (usually decent food) as dining facilities.

Both have the smallest rooms UCLA offers, and have shared communal floor bathrooms (segregated by sex, though); many people do get used to those, and the low cost of the dorms helps, too.

thanks liyana...got so nervous when I saw that housing was assigned that I jumped ahead in the thread....sounds like it's going to be a great dorm!

I got Rieber Hall

yayyyyyy im in deneve like i wanted!!!!!!

I got Rieber Hall too. Does anyone know anything about it? Also, I got a shared bath but I thought the Halls had community bathrooms. Does shared bath mean a community bathroom or does it mean a bathroom that is shared in between 2 rooms?

mine just said "deneve triple". it didnt talk about bath? how does all that work?

I got Hedrick Summit too!!!1

;aiowjfoiawj is that a good or bad thing? It seems like it offers nice, spacious rooms, but at the cost of being so far from campus....

man im thinking i should have gone with choosing a hall, which is more social, im kinda scared that everyone on my floor is less friendly =T

by the way, anybody know how paying for housing works? is it in installments?

I'm still surprised about Hedrick Summit...haha, I didn't even know it was there =P Is it really mostly for "single, upper-division students" like on the Housing website? I'm glad that there are others going to the same plaza (I hope we get the same floor! =]), but I don't want to only have a few freshman living amongst upper-div students...! How intimidating, haha.

haha lovelyday, I feel the same way, hopefully we get fun people on our floor :]
I'm googling hedrick summit as we speak..heheh...

Lol, ichthuscypher, same here!! :)

So far, I found this article:
http://dailybruin.com/archives/id/34036/

^ according to that, Hedrick Summit's got a good mix of people, and it's not that anti-social. That makes me feel more at ease ^-^

can someone tell me how to find out my housing?

It was mentioned earlier in the thread ;P

But anyway...log into MyUCLA and click on Housing Payments to see.

Nah, although Summitt DOES have singles. You can expect to find many freshman everywhere on the hill, as continuing students have distributed themselves around the Hill.

And the walk to Summit isn't that bad once you get used to it. At the very least, you'll have toned calf muscles!

ktcv, all De Neve rooms have private baths. In your case, you'll be sharing yours with two other roommates.

You pick a payment method when you accept your housing contract. You can pay in full, monthly, or quarterly.

hahah

From the article: "But Brevard said Hedrick is the “full freshman experience” and everything she expected dorm life to be, especially the social climate."

Yay...ok I don't feel as bad now :]

thanks!
