housing offered?

I got a triple in Dykstra Hall... ahh that's going to be tough with electrical engineering

uhhh i got triple in reiber hall, what are hilgard houses???

hilgard houses are not for undergrads...
rieber hall is where a LOT of first years end up. and IMO for a res hall it's got the best location. well, sproul does, but it's closed.
you're smack in the middle of the hill, which means you aren't far from anything! :)

just wondering if it's mostly/all first years getting housing info, or if transfers have also got some of their info up? If no, does anyone know the timeframe for transfer housing?

I got a Deneve triple, which is what I wanted, since I knew I wasn't going to get a double. Triple should be better though, meet more people and stuff.

How social are the floors? I'm totally down with keeping an open door and random people walking into my room and chatting up some conversations.

Can I find out what building I'm in?

Is the food at Deneve delicious?

The food at De Neve is close. DX I'm in Hitch, so the nearest dorm thing will be across the street.

Will I get HBO in my room? I want to watch Entourage.

Hey I got deneve triple too, maybe we'll be roommates :) I hope all the people who got deneve will help to keep the floors social.

err, haha I got:
Hedrik Summit, Single, Shared Bath

err plaza was my last choice haha.

So is De Neve all cool with people leaving their doors open and chatting up some random conversations?

^depends on who your floor is! sometimes yes, others are dead zones like the suites.

infearandfaith: so you're a freshman with a single? you just won the lottery :)
that's the same room type i'm in next year. hope you like a room to yourself- it's not gonna be as social as pretty much any other type of housing. also it's the most expensive by far, so just make sure your parents are cool with it.

uclayay: i live in de neve now (birch). half of our floor is VERY social- doors always open, especially fall quarter. but even by the end of the year, we're still room-hopping and socializing. the OTHER half of our floor is very... anti-social... we're mainly first years and they're mainly, well, not. so the demographics of your floor can play a role. you really won't know until you move in! ;)

how the heck does my room work, we share one shower/bthr for 5 rooms? are the rooms connected all together or what?

go here: http://www.housing.ucla.edu/maps/plans/hes-we-07.htm
it's a floorplan of hedrick summit. look at the single suites (the clusters at the end of the hall, there are three of them per floor). you'll see that 5 rooms (A-E, and F-K) each share one bathroom. don't worry: unlike in the plazas with private bath, one person can use the shower while another uses the sink or toilet. everything is separate :)

thanks! that makes it a little easier to see. so the singles are basically just a tiny bedroom huh? are they much smaller than a double?

BlackIris - I am a transfer as well and I was offered the same, Glenrock apartments, TWO bedroom/FOUR persons. I am still debating whether I want to accept this offer...I can't find info on these apartments/pictures, so I have no idea. Have you found out anything?

i'd estimate singles to be three quarters the size of a double/triple (standard) room. they have the same length, but are narrower.

I got a single room in Hedrick Summit. Hopefully a lot of social people there. Pretty good for a transferring junior I think.
