Housing options at Berkeley

I am looking for guidance on housing options as an incoming freshman. I'd like a dorm with more room, and would really prefer a single. I have also heard about the Co-ops as an option. Suggestions on which dorms to consider and on the co-ops are welcome.

A single with more than one room? You want multiple rooms to yourself?

I mean a single.

Singles are impossible and you don’t want to do coops your first year. Dorms are much nicer and much more convenient, you can explore and figure out where you want to live at a better price your second year.

Everyone has a roommate freshmen year, it’s part of the college experience and you’ll get used to it. I recommend getting a double in the units, but Foothill would be ok too.

I think he’s just talking about one large room to himself.

I stayed at the foothill suites during OHP. I’m pretty sure there are no singles there, but the living arrangements seem pretty spacey even with your roommates.

getting a single is very unlikely as a freshman, unless you have some special need (not personal preference).

yeah, you can’t get a single unless you are physically/mentally disabled or need special accommodations like wheel chair access or service animal room.

i lived in unit 3 for OHP and it was cramped, but I don’t mind it. I heard Clark Kerr is really spacious but its about 15 minutes away from campus. You might want to visit if you are in the area or you can fly there. To me, location is more important so I’d rather have a small room if it means less walking time to campus.

So basically ur answer is anything but the units. Doubles seem more spacious too, if you do end up in a unit but i was in a triple.
