I'm going to be a freshman this fall and I'm planning on staying at a Private Certified Housing facility as opposed to a dorm. I'm not into partying so I don't really care if the dorm is quiet and unsocial. Keeping that in mind? Which buildings have have the best combination of cleanliness, good food and good location?

Newman Hall has the best location in relation to the Quad where most of your freshman classes will be located. External areas are clean. You need to keep your room clean. Good food…it’s passable, and the cafeteria is clean, but food choices are repetitive, so it gets old after a while, just like any other dorm style housing on campus. Newman is Catholic, but they accept all applicants, and don’t hit you over the head with the Catholic stuff. It’s there if you want it, but easily ignorable otherwise. As for quiet, its on the quiet side when compared to the 6 pack.

Get your application in quickly. Rooms go fast.

@balthezar: i was looking into Newman Hall but the homepage intimidated me cuz its like St. Johns Catholic Newman Center and I’m Muslim haha… so you dont think that’ll be a problem? What do you know about Armory Hall?

As I said, they accept all applicants, but you never know when you’ll run into a doofus. II’m not familiar with any Armory Hall specifics. Best thing to do would be to visit any housing that you’re considering. First hand knowledge beats opinions every time.
