Housing options in columbia?

hi i am strongly considering accepting USC's grad school offer in experimental psychology.

i was wondering if anyone has some insight on what is the best place to look for housing in this area. i've tried apartment websites but i'd like some insider information if possible.

what is the best way to find a quiet, relatively inexpensive, apartment that is close enough to campus to walk (i wont have a car)? i'd be in the barnwell building a lot so an apartment near there would be awesome.

anyone have any advice on how to look for apartments in columbia or suggestions on apartment complexes to look into?

thank you very much!

Claire Tower is an apartment building close to the psychology building. It is an older high rise and I believe the rent for a studio or one bedroom apt is in the $500–with some utilities included. There is also Cornell Arms and several condos for rent around usc(ie senate plaza-close to psychology) and several houses that have been converted to apartments.
