has everyone else received their housing packet? i heard they sent it out on monday but ours hasn't arrived yet. are we amongst the few who don't have it yet?

I got mine on Wednesday in P.A.

I got mine room assignment today, but it did not include a roommate. Does your room assignment show the name of a roommate?

Your room assignment should include a roommate unless they messed up or you have a single. If you're not in a single you should call Res Life and ask them what's up.

Thanks for answering my question and I now have one more. It appears that incoming students have an email address that consists of part of the last name, first initial and the number 7 @ wfu.edu. I'm wondering if this is will be a student's permenant email address at Wake? In other words, can we change our assigned email address?

Nope, can't change the assigned email address.

thanks all, we just got the packet on Saturday. We got the names of the roommates but don't see a dorm name...There are four initials, maybe I should look up and see if a dorm starts with those...

Okay, as a concerned parent, how safe are those dorms way over behind the stadium -- Piccolo and Palmer, they seem way out in left field for young women to be housed there!!

My son was in Piccolo as a freshman and loved it. Safety was never ever an issue. He made friends with a number of the girls in those dorms (the friendships have continued) and to the best of my knowledge there were never any concerns. While these two dorms are a bit off the beaten track, they're also almost peaceful (in that's at all possible for a college dorm!) and the front porches are an awesome gathering spot.

I don't really think it's an issue if you're cautious, especially since Wake is a very safe campus. While you probably shouldn't walk anywhere alone at night, if you need to get somewhere on campus and don't want to walk alone you can always call the shuttle and they'll take you anywhere on campus or to satellite parking. They pick up right in front of Palmer and Piccolo. I've never heard of anyone having problems out there. Most people who've lived there really love it. Because they're a bit isolated from the rest of the campus many people tend to become really close to their hallmates.
