Housing Question for Busch

Ok, so I'm going to be a first year engineering student, and I'm a pretty sociable kid for being an engineer. That being said, I do not want to end up in Mattia as that will only provide guys to hang out with. I know that it's not too hard to walk over to Barr or something but being in a co-ed dorm would still be easier. I signed up for the Barr LLC but then found out later if I didn't get into that I would be put into the Mattia LLC.

So the question. If i opt out of the LLC, is there still a chance of me being put in Mattia making it pointless to get out? I just want to have the least chance of ending up there. Not my style.

Thanks for any help

i always felt bad for the people in mattia, but some of them said they liked it.

when did you apply for housing? if you applied early enough you could be placed in barr. if you opt out of the llc, they won’t place you in mattia. but, you could possibly get stuck in one of the davidson hall units, and i think 1 of them was an all guys building.

I applied for housing probably about 2 weeks ago. Do you have any insight as to which would be easier to get away from? Is one of them considered more sociable?

the good thing about mattia would be that all your friends will be engineering majors. i lived in barr, so i saw the majority of people in my building in my classes. it’s good because you have a lot of people to study with and do homework with. if you opted out of the llc, the people on your floor would all be different majors, and you may not see them except for in the dorm. also, the BAMM dorms (barr, allen, mattia, metzger) are way nicer than the Davidson dorms, so being in mattia would sort of “guarantee” you a nicer dorm room.

i applied for housing really early, so i’m not sure what all the cutoffs are for where you get placed. since you applied recently, i’m not sure whether you’d get placed on busch since housing is on a first come first serve basis. people who apply late are normally placed on cook or livingston. so, just to be safe, i would say go for the llc, but it’s really your personal choice.

if you want to see all the housing options you can go to
[Browse by Campus - Facilities - Rutgers Housing & Residence Life](Our Campuses – Residence Life)

Dang i might get really screwed over cause i did it the day before it was due lol. That’d be a surprise if i livingston or something. Don’t think I’d get put in their LLC’s though. They wouldn’t move me to like a business LLC on a different campus right?

if you were on a different campus, you would be in regular housing. all the housing on livingston is co-ed by building (not sure whether floors are co-ed) and same with cook. don’t worry, you should have fun no matter where you’re assigned :)

Live in Mattia, its the same thing as Barr because Barr is 1/8 girls. You will make so much friends because they will have the same classes. I lived in Barr Hall and so many people from mattia were over at barr and vice versa.

Really? Ok thanks. I didn’t realize Barr had so few girls.
