housing question for current students

just visited a few weeks ago and loved it. a friend of mine highly recommended that i like in pollock as a freshman (even tho most freshman live in east..). She said the overall atmosphere was nicer and it's a little less crazy. Just curious about everyone elses opinion...

most of my friends are shooting for east as 09'ers, but i loved pollock and west campus i want to put down west campus dorms as my 1st choice

Live in East your freshman year! Yes, you are the farthest away from classes and have the worst dorms but it is an experience. Everyone there is in the same exact shoes as you are and it has the best sense of community. I am ready to leave it but am going to miss it next year.

pollock is a really great place.... it's right next to the important stuff, like downtown, the hub, the pool, a computer lab, and the dining hall, which is seriously like 2 steps away from the dorms (very handy in the rain). if you're in the honors college, simmons is one of the nicest dorms and supposedly has some of the best food on campus in the dorm's dining hall (although now that i think about it, simmons is right next to the pollock dorms, not a part of them).

anyway, the pollock dining commons is supposedly one of the better cafeterias. from my experience, the food isn't bad at all (especially for college food), plus it's RIGHT next to the pollock dorms, so no need to wake up too early for breakfast or worry (too much) about bad weather. pollock dorms are secluded enough from the main roads to make the quad and surrounding area especially nice (great fields for laying in the sun/frisbee, basketball courts, etc), but at the same time they're right next to everything.

anybody have any suggestions on what to pack/what not to pack that my be specific to PSU?
