housing question

Hey I just got in a week ago and I was wondering what would be the best option for housing?

how did you get in a week ago??

I applied in early October and when they got the transcript i got in

My son got in too after 3 weeks. He is going there this weekend to walk around & check distances, see a few rooms. Forms can go in Mon. 10/24. GO for it!!

six pack if you want partying
ISR if you want studying
Allen if your artsey
Busey/Evans if you want all female
PAR/FAR if you want to party hard and walk a mile to each class

Apex2's descriptions are pretty accurate. ISR has a lot of upperclassmen and engineers, while 6-pack has parties and PAR/FAR have freshmen.

Any more comments about housing/ the descriptions of the dorms like apex2 replied?

bump.........

My brother is right now a freshman and he lives in Trelease which is one of 2 buildings that is jointly connected to a center part which has the caffeteria, mailboxes, and etc. Its is florida ave. Its like a 5 minute walk from there to the football and basketball stadiums. I went to visit him last weekend and enjoyed myself a lot. There is a lot of friendly people to talk to and a lot of diversity if you like that. And its only a 5-10 minute bus ride to the " 6 pack" which is where all the frats and parties are at. I don't think its that expensive either.

whats the six-pack?

Six dorms near each other on the west side of campus -- Scott, Snyder, Weston, Forbes, Garner, and Hopkins.

well i got in a month ago, going into aerospace engineering...guess its time to apply for housing...I'm still stuck between which URH i should go...and there's the factor of whether i should wait for my friends so i can pick the same hall, or start a new life from scratch...

I'm not gonna lie, I used to party in high school and I definately will make up for what I didn't do in college. I'm thinking about FAR because its air conditioned and its a party dorm, so I'll have fun and meet a lot of new people, but it lives up to its name cause its really far from the engineering school...

that and I'll be tempted not to use headphones when I watch TV or play video games...and my DDR pad makes a lot of noise in my house, but I emailed housing and they said floor to floor noise is minimal because the frame is made of steel and concrete...

decisions, decisions....a little help here?

i think its ppl like u otaku that im worried about. its 2 am and im trying to get sleep cuz i hav a midterm tomorrow and by golly my neighboring hallmate is playing DDR while the clsuters of others in his room are doing a mixture of DDR, scarfing down cold congealed pizza, listening to the bleeping and obnoxious and loud rap music, and of course drinking up shots which poor me i hear as chug! chug! chug! Not to mention the ppl running around in the hallways.
::sigh::

lol that sounds like me alright, just replace the rap music with techno and that'll be me in a year

now i talked to a guy who used to live in FAR and he told me he played for hours on end all year and never had a complaint...so I'm thinking as long as i keep the volume down to a minimum (or at least try, haha) we won't have any problems, or maybe I could work something out with my neighbors, I'd let them come over and play...anyway the six pack is the big party dorm according to this other person i talked to, and if they're gonna be partying hard then my pad is fair game =P

well atleast u hav a plan otaku lol

any more comments/ suggestions? does it really matter what u get?

I live in FAR(Trelease) right now and honestly besides it being far from most the action(frats, bars, the quad), its not as bad as people would have you believe.

The rooms are actually somewhat comfortable if you arrange it right, plus we're close to the arboretum(kind of like a densely populated forest with lots of different plants and greenery). Trust me stuff goes down over there for sure.

Also the buses are for the most part efficient, so location isn't as big of a problem as people think. By the way, as far as partying goes, PAR, even though its mad ghetto, definitly is up to par with the six pack.

lol, i said up to par.

Got any more questions holla

yea soul brotha another question im considering allen is that a good choice? i.e. anything that i should know about b4 making the desicion?

oo also does the whole bunkbed thing work or can u arrange them seperately or does that take up too much space?

i'm pretty sure i remember reading you can have the beds separate if you want
