Unit 1, 2, and 3 are the most “social” and that is because it’s more packed. Also, those 3 units are all pretty much the same. There’s only tiny differences that don’t really matter once you start living. Foothill is less social and thus quiet but this is because it is mostly suites, which are more comfortably. Clark Kerr is the best one out of them all in terms of comfort and living, but it is far as **** and you will have to walk far for class.

Foothill/Stern/Bowles is close to the engineering, math, physics, and chemistry area of campus. There is a small cluster of shops and stuff a few blocks away on Euclid, plus a few large BSC co-op houses that have parties. Unit 1/2/3 are closer to more stuff on the south side of campus, including the RSF, shops, fraternities and sororities, etc…

I know an EECS freshman who is one one of the Units, but all his friends are in Foothill, so he spends most of his time over there. He isn’t much of a partier, and he’s found a lot of kindred souls at Foothill who are also engineers and they have a great time together.

So I wouldn’t just write off Foothill. I think it depends on what kind of people you see yourself hanging out with.
