<p>Son will be a Jr or Sr next fall and would like to pull a Freshman friend from home into his room. How does this work now if the new Freshmen are no longer getting proxy codes?</p>

<p>Where did you hear that Freshman will not have proxy codes? I do not think that’s right, since proxy codes are the only method for incoming freshmen to pull in potential roommates when choosing rooms. Matching via roommate finder, etc. would not work without it.</p>

<p>OK, so then how do Freshmen use roommate matching to pull in kids they want to live with? There has to be some mechanism for allowing that to happen, right? UAHousing, are you lurking? Can you weigh in?</p>

<p>WOW! If no proxy codes to pull in roommate, that makes it even more urgent to make sure one puts in their housing deposits asap. Then roommate that has first dibs can pick a room and hope the spot(s) stay open for their hopeful roommate to take. </p>

<p>Or maybe they are going to go the way of other schools. You put in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice and they go by date/time of housing deposits to fill each spot.</p>

<p>^^^ Thank You! So it does in fact look like there will still be the ability to pull in desired roommates … just not via a proxy code. Worry averted! :-)</p>

<p>Yes to roommates, just no to proxy codes.</p>

<p>To the OP, if the freshman student has applied for housing and checked the box saying that he wants other students to be able to search for his roommate profile, then the upperclassmen would be able to see/search for the freshman as a potential roommate.</p>

<p>Once two students have each confirmed a request to be roommates, then the room selection process will allow the student going through room selection to pull any confirmed roommates into a selected space.</p>
