Housing Question

Hi! I was accepted ED 1 to GW and recently I've been looking into housing and such. I know I definetely do not want to be in Thurston but I was just wondering about Madison and Lafayette compared to Potomac. I know that Potomac is where ED students usually try to live but to me it doesn't seem as nice as Madison (which is my first choice right now) and Lafayette. I know that it is newer but I heard that the rooms are smaller. Is there any real benefit to Potomac? It's also the most expensive so I'm just really confused as to why it is so popular. I've read places that Madison has huge rooms (for dorms) and a great location and Lafayette seemed nice too. Can any current students give me input? Also, everyone who will be attending in the fall, what are you thinking for housing?

I am going to make sure to check out the dorms when I go to accepted students day in a couple weeks too.

Madison: I would say Madison has the best location - a block away from Gelman as well as J-Street, Wholefoods and buildings where lots of classes are held. The rooms are roomier but they definitely aren’t new. Not to say that they’re gross and run down but just that they’ve definitely been lived in.

Lafayette: It’s very new and nice. The downside is that it’s across the street from TGI Fridays which has karaoke nights which can be heard in the dorm. The rooms are fairly small however the rooms are beautiful.

Potomac: I’ve only been in Potomac once and I was at a party. From what I could tell, the room seemed pretty small. However, they have nice study rooms and are right above Carvings which is open late and pretty good. You’re also close to Thurston and lots of frats.

spoonster- thanks for your input! do you go to GW? if so, where did you live your freshman year?

I do! I’m currently a freshman living in Clark. It’s on the Vern.
