is any of the residential halls new?

Nope. The only new buildings are the residential suites.

how's de neve?

more to the point, any reccomendations?

I think De Neve is the best on-campus housing. It has large rooms, private showers, a built-in dining hall on the first floor and it's situated closest to campus. I would highly recommend it over the high-rise residence halls.

is De Neve a residential plaza or suite? and can we pick which building we want to live in?

De Neve is a residential suite.
Yes, you can pick which building you want to live in.

thank you....

what do freshmen typically get? i heard that they often land with triples in the res hall, but they can also get doubles in plazas?

Flopsy, when do we pick which building we want to live in; The housing app or orientation? I would also like to live in De neve. Do honors students get priority housing?

There should be a checkbox option to select the type of housing you want (residential hall/residential suite/residential plaza) on the mailed On-Campus Housing application... If you apply for a residential suite, though, it's probably De Neve. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Honors students do get priority housing.

how are the dorms anyway? are they big, clean, etc?

what's the chance of a freshman (non honors) getting a single?

What is the difference between a Res. Hall, Res. suite, and Res. plaza?

isn't De Neve a residential plaza? not a suite? i thought hitch&saxon was the only residential suite. (im getting this from the ucla housing website)

does anyone know about Rieber Terrace/Vista how the single rooms are? and also pianotes question about the chances of a freshman getting a single. thanks

Flopsy, seicheong is right. :-P

Well you can't pick the building, but you can pick the type. I didn't know that honors got priority for housing? It was never mentioned as a benefit.

Dorms? Big? Doesn't happen. But it's certainly adaptable. Clean? Depends on who you live with.

Singles are definitely very limited. It's probably slim under normal circumstances. And besides.. there's tons of threads against such an idea for 1st years?

Res Hall: communal bathrooms, smallest rooms, not the most beautiful environment, most social, common lobby

Res Suite: no lobby - direct entrance, apartment-like, two rooms share a bathroom and living room, quiet

Res Plaza: larger rooms, less social, private or shared bathrooms between two rooms, nice environment, a/c.

The single rooms at Rieber T/V are the same as the ones at Hedrick Summit - 10 rooms in a suite with 2 bathrooms (each with 2 sinks, toiler, and a shower) with a small living room. Rieber T/V is definitely very, very packed.

yeah so most people room in the residential halls? im also a little curious about what you guys think about communal bathrooms and showering. Do all people like on a level share a common shower/bathroom place, where they all shower together or do people just use the showers/bathroom alone when there's no one using it?

Never mind -- I forgot that the full name of De Neve is "De Neve Plaza".

Isn't DNP composed mostly of older students? (non first-years)

there are a lot of first years at de neve, although most go to halls i think.

the bathroom question... basically theres a girl and a guy bathroom on each floor (im a girl)... theres like 4 bathroom stalls, 6 sinks, and 6 showers and there is never a problem getting any of these things. usually im like the only one showering at any time so u dont have to worry about not being able to shower or whatever when u want to. they get cleaned twice a day and its all good although ive noticed about twice this year it got really really steamy and stuffy and smelly..it was really weird..but then the next morning it was gone shrug

yermama, when in the shower do you smell the stalls?
