question: i now want to be roommates with this girl, but i've already submitted my housing application without requesting her. she hasn't submitted hers yet. what do we both have to do to make sure we're roommates?

collegegirlgirl: There are no kitchens anywhere. Microwaves (the ones that don't stick to the top of a fridge) have to be kept in the "DL" if you want one in your room. However, there are microwaves in various places on the hill and on campus.

spontcombustion: It has to be mutual requests. So I think you should call up housing and ask them.

spontcombustion, fill out your application with the exact same preferences as your friend and mutually request each other on the application. If you don't get her as your roommate when the release the housing details, you can petition it and you'll usually get it then (you may have to be persistant during your petition). When they release the preliminary details about your housing location and roommate, they'll also tell you a window frame and give you instructions on how you can petition.

i just got back from spending 3 days at ucla, and someone explained to me why having a triple could be a good thing:

-instead of one guaranteed friend, there are two
-the girls always have so much fun because its "like a slumber party!!!"
-if you get a crappy roommate...youre on your own with them in a double. but if you have a triple, theres a noncrappy person who can help you deal with the other roommate

i saw a triple and it was a mess...but thats because they chose not to clean up. i stayed in the RAs room with my friend, so it was essentially a triple for two nights, and we were okay.

Actually, just as a side note about the kitchen topic - there is an actual kitchen on the all girls floor in Hedrick.

Oh yeeeahhh. Now I remember reading about that in the DB while looking up housing themes. Heh.

So where exactly is this kitchen located? Does it just replace one of the bathroom or something?
