Hi. I'm an incoming freshman for '12 (woot), and I was wondering if I could get some advice from people with some personal experience with the housing at Penn. I applied for Gregory as my first choice because I'm really interested in the language programs, but after reading some of the threads here I'm worried I made a huge mistake! I lived in the quad for 3 weeks last summer for SAAST and liked it alot. I'm a very social person (I would never dream of living in a single), and I know I would be happy in either the quad or hill. So my questions are will I be absolutely miserable if I get placed in Gregory because I can't stand to not be around other social people having fun? Also, how likely is it that I will be placed there and not one of my lower choices? I'm very worried that I have ruined my chances of enjoying my freshmen year like I should, and I could really use some helpful advice!!!

responses?

It is pretty likely you will be placed in Gregory considering the low demand for it. To be honest, I forgot Gregory existed. I don't even know where it's located on campus. Don't expect all of your dormmates to be antisocial...bad to go into it with a negative attitude. But realistically, yes, they will probably be less social than the people in Hill or the Quad. You can also try to switch into Hill. I don't really know how that works or if you have to wait til October or something, but it shouldn't be too hard.

most likely you can get into hill. its not the quad but inch for inch there are more freshman, and youll have your own eating area

My friend lived in Gregory and it's not completely horrible. Yes, it isn't really the freshman hotspot so you're probably going to find yourself traveling to the quad or hill to hang out with people. Like someone else said, not many people apply to Gregory so you'll probably get it since it was your first choice.

Hill is the way to go. :)
