Housing questions, specifically what is cheapest, can I get a room w/o AC(I hate AC)?

I'm from NY state, I got into UIUC's college of engineering and will be on my way to become a civil engineer. However, I have some housing questions for those willing to help.

First, I am looking for a cheap dorm, as long as it is decent. What is the cheapest one, and is there the possibility of finding cheaper dorms in privately certified housing than university residence halls? I especially liked Hendrick Hall because of its proximity to the engineering quad and "quieter residents." However, I'm afraid it might be prohibitively expensive. I also liked Bromley, because of the indoor pool and other local amenities plus Illini Tower because it's a big concrete tower(reminds me of home, and no that's not some projects in the U.S.)

Second, all these places that I like have AC. I cannot stand AC, I can't sleep in it, I can't breathe it, I really hate it. Does this mean that I have to apply to non-AC dorms such as PAR, or Gregory and Peabody? Or is there any way to find a non-AC freak such as myself to live with, or perhaps to get a non-AC room in one of these dorms?

If you wanna help me out, just post your comments. I'd really like some ideas.

Privately-certified housing (PCH) is more expensive than campus residence halls; how much more depends on the particular PCH. Of the PCH, Newman Hall (male) and Newman House (female) do not have A/C, but it helps, though not required, that you be Catholic to stay there. Hoping to be assigned a roommate that does not like AC if you apply to a place that has it is probably like expecting to find a needle in the haystack since having A/C is one factor that most consider favorable when choosing such halls. You can usually aviod A/C in your room in an A/C hall if you get a single room and thus control the room A/C. Most campus residence halls do not have A/C and you can request one of those, and make your second choice another non-A/C hall in case you do not get your first choice hall. Cost for room & board at the campus residence halls is the same from one hall to another, except that A/C halls actually add $100 per year charge for A/C, and for all the halls, the price differs between a tripple (least expensive), double, and single (most expensaive)

thank you for the help

The entire six pack is non AC i believe
