Housing Questions

I have 2 questions about freshman housing.

When should prospective students apply? Is it like most public schools where I need to apply early whether or not I'm sure I'll be going there just to get a room or should I wait until I'm positive?

How do I apply? I heard somewhere that they'll send freshman a housing application, is that true? Or do I need to apply online somewhere?

If I remember correctly, you send in a housing deposit after you send in an admissions deposit, which would be after you decide that is where you are attending.

Two years ago, there was a housing packet. I don’t know whether it is all on-line now or not.

They will send you a housing application after you send in your deposit.

Should I worry that if I don’t decide to go to Pitt until April 30 they will run out of rooms? Do I need to decide sooner? And if so how long is too late to wait?

As long as you send in your housing deposit by the deadline, you are guaranteed three years of on-campus housing (you have to make the deadline each year too). The literature that Pitt sends to you will inform you of the deadline date.
