Housing Questions

I'm a transfer student trying to figure out where to live... I'm looking at 1865 Orrington, WRC, Rogers House, PARC, Kemper, Lindgren and Goodrich. Could you please rank them and give me an idea why? I'm not really into the all-female housing, but it seems like a lot of the best housing options happen to be. I'd wish to be in Chapin or Shepard, but those aren't available. I like the idea of a res coll, which is why I'm considering WRC or PARC but neither are really my theme, so I don't know if it would be worth it. What would you say? Thanks in advance.

I'd say Kemper is the best of those options...if you can get in there, do it. All the rest are pretty small and I don't really know much about them...

As for the themed res colleges, there's really not any focus on those themes (except for maybe Parc) If you want to be close with your dormmates and have big room I would go for willard (hardest to get into to). Also, If you put 1856 orrington on your list you will get it because there are not that many people there. Kemper is also nice and on north campus with great suites but its all upperclassmen. I really don't know much about the others because they're all really small, so if thats what you want go for those.

Thanks for the advice. Any idea why no one likes 1865 Orrington? It seems like a really nice place, but I wouldn't want to actually pick somewhere no one wants to end up. Thanks again. Looks like Kemper'll top my list.

please? anyone know anything about this dorm? Sorry to be annoying.

no one knows anything about it b/c it's one of those little, hidden dorms up north that you need a map to find if you ever happen to go .. i would go with a bigger dorm where you'll meet more people. Go with Kemper if those are your only choices (i guess they kind of screw transfers over in the housing process). Do NOT live in Rogers House unless you want to be a social outcast. I mean it.

i looked up where 1856 orrington is...and it's by the sorority quads...i really don't know anything about it either, but i will say that one of the most social people i know lived in rogers house....but she hated it...

why will you become a social outcast in rogers? i heard that it was a good place to live.

haha maybe that was a bit harsh, but single-sex dorms tend to be boring and people usually assume that anyone living there is dull and/or sheltered. The few people I met who lived there were a bit odd, and when facing the prospect of living there next year (sophs got totally screwed over with housing) a lot of people I know freaked out and started looking for off-campus housing ... thankfully they ended up getting into other dorms.
