Housing request on monday

Do we have to know who we want as roommates?

i don’t think so.

i heard monday is just filling out the apartment preferences and then roommate preferences is january or somewhere around there.

Do you guys know if I decided to fill out and submit the application, when is the deadline to cancel the contract without penalty?

Since this is really early and I don’t really know whether I should live on campus or off campus

So I just want to fill out and submit the application in case I decide to live on campus or can’t find a good place to live off campus next year

i remember hearing that it’s better to fill out the application even if you’re not sure.
you don’t have to live in an apartment if you fill out the apartment application.

submit the application and you’ll receive an offer from one of the apartments.
if you decide later that you don’t want to live on campus, you can decline the offer.
but once you decline it, you lose your second-year housing guarantee.

Will the rates for next yr be included in the app?

And do we only get an offer from one of the apts? I still can’t decide if I want vdc or a shared room in vdc norte…

i don’t think the rates will be included in the application yet.
i visited vdc, vdc norte and campus village within the last two weeks and when my friend asked about rates for next year, they told us that the prices will go up from this year. it seemed like they were sure of price increases but not what the prices will be yet.

i remember vdc said that their prices will probably increase by 3%.
a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom right now costs $661 per person so next year it’ll be at least $681 i’m assuming.

and i’m not sure about how many offers we’d get.
it seems like it would be only one though…

you don’t have to know who you are living with. right now you are just applying. later on if you are given an offer, you can choose to accept it or decline, and then when you are given your contracts you can write who you want to live with

crosses fingers for VDC

that housing process is total hell and totally sucks! took me 3 hours to get it to work

Took me 2 hours, and had to get it done on my friends comp.

Maybe too many people applying so the website was down for a while

But the applying process was a lot easier than I thought, just rank your preferences and submit, that’s it! (took me 2 minutes…)

I got mine in at like 9:04… I had to go to class at 8 :(

Mine didn’t submit til 10:05 a.m.
I had class at 9.
I showed up five minutes before class ended.

My guess is everyone before 10 AM gets VDC?

Any upperclassmen have any experience to share?

^^ It’s actually kind of random… Not everybody who applied and got through early even got their first choice. I applied with my friend at the exact same time (I was like a minute earlier) and I got Norte and he got AV. I don’t really understand the housing process, it’s just pretty random to me.
