hello
i was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback in regards to the "housing". is it required to actually live on certain campuses ..? in regards to mit...do you have to actually live on campus..for a year?

Many campuses require that you live on campus for some or all of your years. I wouldn't consider a school that didn't have some required on-campus residence policy. A big part of the college experience is the connection to a class that moves through four years together as a cohort. Without that, you might as well study on-line.

Most schools do require students to live on campus at least for the first year. Some commuter type schools do not require this if the student lives in a particular radius, say within 15 miles or so.

MIT students are required to live on campus freshman year.

Most students choose to stay on campus all four years if they don't move to a fraternity, sorority, or independent living group -- the dorms are very close communities, and housing in the Boston area is very expensive.

thank you for your responses! i appreciate it.
