Housing Results 2006!!!

Hopefully...those of us who didn't get LCT have some chance to switch. Since last year a bunch of people got them that didn't want them, maybe will work in our favor this year as well.

oh man, i just finished my e-note thing for the stafford loan. and all this panicking about money and all-- its just starting for us as nyu students

my current activity says i'm in hayden with $ 5,270.00/semester, and i guess i'm pretty lucky-- it was my first choice as an RD. But then again, I applied to an explorations. But i'm just glad I'm not in LCT in Hayden.

hey guys, im in the LCT at Rubin, and although I applied for LCT, it wasn't my first choice dorm (and I wasn't ED either).
I guess since I applied for the sports floor (NY at Play - explorations) NYU placed me into a random room on that specific floor of rubin.

my account says: Fall 2006 Housing - Rubin Triple, $ 2,985.00.

anyone on that floor with me?

So LCT Rubin was my first choice and I was ed.

The second email said I am just not finalized and it does not mean I don't have a low cost triple. However, with some people getting that on their bill I see it as unlikely.

I will apply for a change but if I don't get one I am so screwed.

ashley-it's not that unlikely. i was in a Rubin LCT last year, and it didn't show up on my bill until a week or two after most people found out their housing. i just had a random estimated charge, that ended up meaning nothing. people with the same estimate got lct in rubin, and apartments in TN. it really meant nothing other than they hadn't entered my dorm in the system. i like many, did not request lc housing, but tons of people change around after the freeze period, and i remember several lct's with one (or two in my neighbor's case) empty beds.

if you do get LC housing, it's actually pretty sweet. my room was insanely cheap by nyu standards, and huge. having two roomies is actually pretty great in most cases.

I am sorry about that Ashley. I hope you do end up in one of the Rubin LCT rooms.

Thank you chicagojen. That makes me feel a lot better. It's hard to think of anything else right now. I'm a complusive worrier. ha

ha, no worries. i was (and still sorta am) the same way :o)

when i clicked on "current account balance"
it not only said the price but it also said

"housing-University hall"

and my roommates says that also...

but another frd of mine just has "estimated housing costs"

witt no specific dorm name...

im confused, is this trustworthy?
and how come some have it and some dont?

I doubt they did put Low Cost out yet, jaimejolie. I am yet to hear from a single person who got a low-cost estimate. I'm hoping that means my 4140/semester in Rubin goes down to about 3000/semester in Rubin...crossing my fingers, haha.

Then again, we just may not have heard from anyone with the low cost yet.

stern- NYU is putting out the estimates as they recieved them. I recieved my dorm early because of choices, and many others recieved early because of explorations placement and so their dorms were already known. I guess from there NYU is just getting out the info as fast (or maybe not...haha) as they can. Not everyone is going to know where they are at the same time...your friend may have to even wait until august (probably not, though). So, don't worry about not knowing specific dorms, b/c you will eventually find out.

Stern--Uh, yeah, I'd say it's trustworthy. This is Albert. It's about official as it gets.

What Linsey said.

I'm of the $5582 crowd. Though, my Current Activity has been updated from yesterday to include my Tisch scholarship, so my balance is now actually negative. I anticipate this being the only time ever (or for the next four years, at least) that it's negative, so it's definitely a nice thing to look at.

lucky...my balance is still way on the plus side :(

but i haven't made many other deposits yet, anyways

my current activity reads:

07/10/2006 / Housing-University Hall / 5895.00
07/10/2006 / Housing - Estimated Charge / 5582.50
07/10/2006 / Housing - Estimated Charge / -5582.50
07/10/2006 / Hsg - Fall 14 Meal Plan / 1725.00

so I'm assuming I have UHall. my roommate's current activity reads the same. but most of my friend's read:

07/10/2006 / Housing - Estimated Charge / 5582.50
07/10/2006 / Hsg - Fall 14 Meal Plan / 1725.00

so... does that mean most of my friends didn't get UHall?

(I know all this crap will be cleared out by august, but i just cant wait!!)

I would guess so, but if you want to find out for sure contact the housing office.
I knew I was in Rubin LCT before they updated Albert - I asked the director of residential education (I think her name is Anna Shumidt?) about my housing situation after being admitted to Rubin's explorations program.

Yo stern2010 I put Uhall as my first choice too and I basically got those same numbers

Stern2010 were you ED? do all you ED people know what dorm you are in yet?

i was ed and Hayden was my top choice (not LCH)

this is what i have...
Fall 2006 07/10/2006 Housing - Estimated Charge $ 5,582.50
Fall 2006 07/10/2006 Hsg - Fall 14 Meal Plan $ 1,725.00
Fall 2006 07/11/2006 Housing - Hayden $ 5,270.00
Fall 2006 07/11/2006 Housing - Estimated Charge $ -5,582.50

am i correct in saying that i have a regular room in hayden (not LCH) and its $5270/semester?

i dont see why that isnt correct

congrats on getting your first choice

no i wasn't ED

hayden was my first choice, and Uhall was 2nd
but oh well, UHall has it's own advantages so I'm happy
