Housing search...

Is there any websites out there designed for Madison students to find a place to rent near by campus?

Do you live nearby? If you can take a weekend off (or go a day early to SOAR), you can find about a gadzillion "NOW RENTING FOR FALL" signs all around the Madison, esp. close to campus. Can't miss 'em. I'm not going to bother looking online anymore... just going there next weekend.

Need a roommate? lol

I'm currently looking for a place (hopefully have it soon) as well...but a little further from campus. I used rent.com to find a place. I unfortunately didn't have the time/money to go visit this summer to sign a lease and have been having limited success finding a place long-distance.

If you are an incoming freshman, I'd strongly suggest living in campus housing though.

how are the freshman dorms?

I am a new Junior transfer student. I prefer some place cheap and with a private bath.

There are lots of slightly older studio apts not too far from campus. Should be around $400-$600/mo

i heard that these apartments are mostly not furnished. so yup, i agree that if u're in wisc madison for the first yr, it's better to live on campus housing. it'll be quite a hassle to get the furniture, esp. if u do not know the place well

Actually many apartments do come with furniture, for the reason you gave: most downtown renters are students, students often leave for the summer, it's a hassle to cart furniture around, etc. Some landlords have furnished or unfurnished options, with a one-time or monthly fee for use of furniture, pots/pans, bedding, etc.

I recommend The Saxony Apartments to anyone seeking affordable, quiet, furnished housing near campus. (though not a good fit for those who want to party)
