Any tips for signing up for housing for next year? ( as in like VDC, CV, etc sign ups)
I heard that the system crashes up and we need to wake up super early to get our info in?

Yep, that’s true. The system crashes because so many people are accessing the site. I heard that going on campus, getting away from all the people in the dorms, will help you because the internet will be faster. I’m not completely sure about that though because I stayed in my dorm when I signed up for second-year housing.

It’s frustrating because sometimes you’ll make it to the last page of the application, and then it would crash so you have to log back in and redo everything.

Wake up early and try to log in right when the site becomes accessible. Be aware of who’s getting in. Use their computer. The site kept crashing on me for an hour. My friend got through okay so I went over to his dorm, used his laptop, and submitted my application after experiencing only one crash.

If you want VDC or Norte, you better wake up early because it is super competitive. If you want CV or dorming again, I heard that you can wait until later, like around noon, to submit your application.

Yep just wake up early, and if you find that your computer is not working; and hear that your dormmates are getting in, use their comp after them. It should work.

F’ that, it’s not first come first serve, and spots are not limited. In my experience they actually under lease for almost all communities and try to advertise it to renewee’s.

The priority order will usually be new leasers (if application on time) > renewee’s > others.

Really? Why are those two more popular? They’re so far away from campus?

I’m pretty sure it is first come first serve, actually.

GamerKingFaiz,
VDC and Norte have single rooms. Everybody in VDC has their own room. If you want your own bathroom, you’ll pay more than someone who shares a bathroom. It’s only two people per bathroom though. Norte has single and double rooms. Check out the VDC and Norte sites to view the floor plans and rates.

In CV, there are no single rooms. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 people in each bedroom. There’s only 1 bathroom so all 4 people share the bathroom.

I don’t know much about AV except that it’s like a dorm hall so that means several people sharing a bathroom. And the frat and sorority houses are in AV.

I think that VDC and Norte are more popular because most people want their own room. I also think that VDC and Norte look better. And the apartments are bigger. That’s why they’re more expensive than CV and AV.

The apartments offer room tours so I suggest that you go on a tour to see which apartment you like the most.

I see, I think I’m going to choose Campus Village in the end, it is such a close distance to campus, so I won’t have to worry about waking up late or anything, and it seems like the cheapest option.

How does the CV application work? I was looking at the [CV Floor Plans](<a href=“http://www.housing.uci.edu/cv/floorplan.asp"]CV”>http://www.housing.uci.edu/cv/floorplan.asp), and it shows that you have the option for either a loft type of bed or a captain type of bed. I would prefer the captain style bed for an academic year, can you choose this option in the application?
