I got accepted on 11/3, and put my deposit down 11/11 for the Spring 2009. Whats the housing situation looking like? When will I be notified? I'm kind of in a crunch because I'm coming from Kingsborough Community College, and they have a winter semester that runs from 1/5-2/20, and I need to take winter classes to graduate on time, unless I get housing and go to Stony Brook, at which I'd just drop the winter classes. The drop date is Jan. 16, and I really hope I'll know by then. In addition, when will I know my FAFSA results, and my orientation date?

Anyone know anything?

I don't think we know yet, and probably won't know until we get a better handle on how many spaces our current students plan to fill.

Chris

Any new info?

Nothing yet on when I'll be notified of housing?

It will probably be a few weeks. I don't want to give out any wrong info, Chris will probably kill me anyways, but space needs to be found first for all of the transfers. There are students graduating, and transferring out, so there is no way of knowing really until the semester ends, which is the 23rd.

-sigh- I'm so stressed out about this, I just want to know.

Unfortunately, Zulj is completely right. (Except he means "freshmen" where he says "transfers" in his second sentence.

Chris

Heh, I'm usually always right :P.

Freshman, transfers, whatever, people who are new here.

Is there usually space for spring transfers?

Yeah there is usually space. People graduate from the University early, some people transfer out/ drop out, there will always be space, usually. If not the freshman stay tripled :P.

Oh ok, so it's not completely hopeless

it's never hopeless... If you are accepted as a transfer, you will have a spot. Do you think they accept you and guess if you have a spot? Haha.

Well they said they can't guarantee a spot, so I figured there was only a slim chance of me getting housing.

We haven't heard anything yet about transfer space for spring. I'll see if I can get an answer of some kind tomorrow. (Yes, we're open.)

Chris

You guys are open? Thank stinks. Ah well, I have work too. Anyway, anything you you find out would be AMAZING, I'm so stressed out and worried about whether I'll get housing or not, alot depends on it.

Hey Chris were you able to find anything out?

I have another problem now, I was offered an Unsub Stafford Loan of $5,500, no financial aid. I cannot afford the other $3,000 or so, and I'm not sure what to do. What other loans should I look for, and how do I go about applying for them?

Chris, did you find out anything?

No one knows anything new?
