Hi everyone!

I'll be a first year and my parents are making me choose between Plaza & Suite living situations. They didn't like the Res Halls after they saw the word "co-ed" somewhere in there so these are my only options. They don't really mind the price that much.

I won't be able to attend Bruin Day, which means I can't exactly see the buildings and would like to file my housing application and SIR as early as possible.

Which living space is more financially feasible, but comfortable and with a meal plan?
I have already seen the floor plans online but would like your feedback.

I'd like to live closer to where the science classes usually are but a good distance from a fitness/recreation facility. I would also prefer double occupancy or 2 students per room.

Thanks in advance!

All the housing is basically in one area on “the hill”. It is just that some are farther up the hill than others. You don’t really get to pick where you live you just have two options that you rank: suite, plaza or hall and single, double or triple. Generally you don’t get your first pick of both. You don’t get to pick which hall, suite or plaza you live in. My son lives in a triple plaza (De Neve). From what I understand doubles are hard to come by. The plaza is nice because you have your own bathroom.

Do you know if filing your housing application earlier (I’m planning on doing mine the first week of April) gives you any advantage?

No it doesn’t give you an advantage.

Also, all halls and plazas are coed with males and females on the same floor/house. There are communal bathrooms in the halls where everyone on that hall goes to while the plazas have your own bathroom or you share with the room next to you.

this may be a stupid question but do the showers in the communal bathrooms have divisions? and, am I right that an admitted student can specify if he/she wants a roommate, 2 roommates or nada at all?

Yah there are divisions. And yes you can specify how many roommates you want, but it may not be granted in your housing offer. Most freshman will be in a triple and if you are very lucky either a single or double.

@agent, thanks for answering!

Thanks everyone :)
