Housing: Suites Or Hallway Style?

I was just wondering if someone could tell me about west campus room arrangements. I've been placed on the 3rd floor of Alice cook for next year and I know that there is a guy living in the numbered room right before mine. (I'm a girl) Does this mean that I'm in a suite arrangement and I have my own bathroom?

Congrats w/ the roomie situation working out btw, that's great! I hope I find out soon...

Most suites have one double and three singles with their own bathroom. However suites are not coed. So if you have a room next to a guy's room then probably you are in one of those hallway rooms.

You find your housing assignment in the mail.

wait, how come you already found out? when are they releasing all of the assigments?

You most likely don't have a suite. If the room next to you is a guy, and you're a girl, you most likely have a room on a hall. If you're not rooming with friends, this is preferred because you'll most likely have a cleaner bathroom (that is cleaned more frequently) and will have to share it with less people.

Usually, you can tell based on the number. In Becker, Cook, and Bethe, the suite rooms are followed by a letter (such as 136D or 342A), rather than just having a number (ie. 462, 263).

I hope that helps.

That helps a lot, thank you. I was just curious about whether they'd have coed floors with hallway bathrooms, that's a little weird.

I think my housing assignment came unusually early, Sandra Davenport said the date is supposed to be June 20th for everyone.

I think you got it early cause your roommate got all her stuff in before any of us did. From what I remember, your roommate sent in her midterm in like January and got her decision in March.

floors are coed in the new dorms on west, but there are separate men's and women's bathrooms on the floors as well

Yes, you'll only have to share with girls. And so, you'll have to share with even less people.

Suites are so much better. There's usually fewer people going by your door if you're in a suite so you won't be disturbed by people walking in and out.
