How do I do a housing appeal? I’m in foothill but want to be in the units. What are my chances?
Your best bet is to find someone who wants to swap. No guarantees that will work though even if you do find someone.
If you do find someone, both of you should call Housing and see if a swap can be facilitated. I would think this would be better done before you accept your contract, rather than after. As such, you only have a few days to do this. Somehow I have a feeling that Housing won’t be cooperative on this but you never know.
I already submitted a housing transfer form though :((
thanks
Hmmm, never knew there was a transfer form. Good luck let us know if you were successful or not.
@rrfkrrfk What about Foothill that you don’t like? Is it a triple or double? I don’t know if my daughter wanted Foothill but she and her roommate got Unit 3 and they aren’t happy lol. I’ll ask if they want to swap but i have no idea what foothill is like. Anyone wants to share the differences/pros/cons? Thanks
Unit 3 – close to the south side (“social” side) of campus, rooms are fairly small, floor shares bathrooms, but close to the center of campus which is convenient especially for freshman year.
Foothill – north side of campus, close to the STEM buildings. Uphill climb from campus and far from the center, but quiet and a great study environment. More spacious suite living, and has its own dining commons which is considered better than some of the other eateries on campus.
Wow uhh, idk if its too late now, but I’m in Unit 3 and my first choice was foothill…
I’d switch with you if you’re still looking to switch and if a switch is actually possible this late lol
I DMed you OP
@spiritualgift has a kid who got a Foothill double and is looking for a cheaper option. Not sure if swaps can happen or not but if it can…
I accepted my contract for a standard triple in Unit 2. My first two choices were Blackwell double and Foothill double. I tried to DM @spiritualgift to see if we can request an exchange, but I haven’t posted enough to DM. I hope that @spiritualgift is listening because I don’t want to post randomly to meet the threshold to DM.
@VitpexyTX Not sure about switching-my teen thought maybe so but does not want to chance entering into such a pricey contract. Did you pay a deposit when you accepted the contract?
looks like swapping is not available, which I suspected. You can put yourself on the transfer request list, like how the OP did it. Don’t request Blackwell, it’s 100% full and I doubt if anyone’s moving out unless they forced to. A transfer doesn’t occur unless there’s an opening, and then the wheels can start turning with the other requests.
@spiritualgift We signed the contract; then I sent in a transfer request. I am just waiting to see how things turn out.
update for future interested people: i was indeed transferred
@rrfkrrfk Wondering what housing you initially got and then what transfer did they give you?
