1) What is the social scene like in freeborn- substance free?

2) I've heard stories of students getting drunk/puking etc after parties (hence why I'm leaning towards freeborn)... is this a big problem in berkeley?

3) Would you say the type of students at freeborn are really different from other buildings? (like.. not as social, or more sheltered, religious, less diversity etc?)

4) Is a triple reallyyyy bad? Because a lot of people seem to not want triples... is it too crowded? or more chances of getting a bad roommate?

5) What are each of the units like? I heard the infrastructure at unit 3 is worse than the other two, and that unit 2 has more upperclassmen, and that one of the dorms has bad internet... not sure which ones to believe. >_>

6) Lastly, there's no choice for 'Any units'?? or even 'Unit 1- any room'? Because I dont really care whether I get a double or triple; i just want a unit...

I hate when students get drunk after parties. Puking etc is a big problem here in Berkeley.

Ah, damn. You edited your post and made me look weird on the internet.

^lol yeah confused.

You should not go with the substance free dorm. You will get over this whole drinking/puking fear you have right now very very soon. It will all be normal/fun and will not seem like a problem to you at all when you get to college. (Unless you are really conservative/close-minded and will be condescending to anyone who ever mentions drinking. In that case, no one in the rest of the school will want to be friends with you so you should probably live in the substance free dorm.)

Unit 3’s infrastructure is not worse than the other units. Units 1 and 2 have like half their buildings renovated but the other half (the buildings they place the freshmen in) are exactly like the Unit 3 buildings.

I live in Freeborn now, and the general consensus is that the floors in our dorm seem to be more connected and family-like than those in some other buildings. I’m sure that other dorms are great as well, but I’m getting this info from those who moved into Freeborn after dorming in other places freshman year.

I actually didn’t choose to live here, though; I just ended up getting a triple in Freeborn. At first I was really apprehensive that the people I’d meet would be super conservative, but I found that it’s really just a friendlier environment. We don’t have to worry about the smell of pot lingering in the bathrooms or hallways, I don’t know of any people who sneak alcohol in either. There are still party-goers here; the difference is that they don’t bring the party back to the dorms (drinking, puking, etc.).

Hm… I guess there is a higher concentration of Christians at least on my floor, but it’s not like non-Christians are ostracized or anything. Diversity isn’t really an issue.

As for living in a triple, I could see why some wouldn’t like it if all three of you can’t compromise on certain issues. I guess I was lucky in that my roommates and I get along really well. We’re actually dorming in Freeborn again next year! Sorry for not answering in a numbered format… I kind of got carried away. I hope this helps!
