Housing: Units or Foothill

I have narrowed down my housing options to Units and Foothill. I couldn't visit the campus personally, but would like some suggestions or opinions on the two choices.

I hope to get some insights in terms of the following:

hygiene- for example: bugs or spiders(i'm afraid of tiny crawling bugs ><)

management-I heard some dorms are poorly managed, so I just want to know if Units and Foothill have this problem.

food- I heard food at foothill is pretty bad....

convenience& location- I am an engineering major, so Foothill might be of closer distance. However, does the distance matter that much? Is there generally more engineering majors living at Foothill so it would more convenient to discuss hw or problems etc?

social- From what I have read on the forum, units seem to have a good social scene. How about Foothill?

Thanks in advance! :)

If walking doesn’t matter for you, then units would be better. I would say out of all the DCs, Foothill is the best overall. Their selection is minimal, but if they are serving what you like, then it’ll most likely be good.

Studying wise, I don’t think people would pick FH over the units b/c of their major. Management wise, all the dorms get cleaned up every week (2-3x? not sure). But it shouldn’t be a problem since you can always nag your RA about it :P!

When my son was an engineering freshman, he was in the Units but all his EE friends were in Foothill. Turns out his floor at the Units was a dud, so he spent all his time at Foothill - the whole floor there was one big family and they had a blast together. Had he known, he would have chosen Foothill hands down. If you get a good group at Foothill, the nature of the suites makes it a nice intimate group of people. Depends on what you’re looking for. (BTW, one of the things that bonded them was that they were all a bit geeky and not big partiers - weren’t drinkers or smokers.)

It really depends on what kind of person you are, I live in Unit 4( foothill-stern-bowles) and get really bored sometimes. People can be awkward and kinda anti-social but not everyone is like that. The units are more social. I would not live in unit 4 again
