Is it possible to live in a dorm and not buy the meal points/dining plan?

It wasn't an option when my daughter was in the dorm then on-campus apartments a couple of years ago. We would have opted out if possible since she's a vegetarian and not a big eater and always had lots of 'dining dollars' left over despite a valiant attempt to spend them.

The housing website will tell you for sure in case something's changed.

no you cant... it sucks because if you live in an apartment and you have a kitchen.. you dont really need them as much
=/

Yeah, i thought so, i was just wondering since i wanted to live on campus, but cant really afford it, wanted to see if i could cut the price. I live in SD so i know where the inexpensive restaurants are, and was hoping i could use that to my advantage (and sometime go home to eat or eat at costco for lunch, $1.50 for lunch hehe)

Nope. It's a packaged deal. I personally just don't think it's enough for first years living in dorms - for my second year, I'm planning on living in Warren so I'll just use them to buy groceries at Earl's Place.
