Has anyone had any experience with the housing wait list at USC. My daughter is wait list #740 and it says they are currently serving #637. The serving number seems to change at times and then remain stuck on a number for a while. We are hoping she gets on campus housing 1 more year but being OOS feel we are getting close to a point where we will need to make other arrangements.

If you don't have any alternatives to on-campus housing I can tell you that there are a few student apartments in the area that are easy to get into at a late date. They rent to each student individually so you don't need to fill an entire apartment - they use a roommmate matching questionairre to match you up in an apartment. Not necessarily your first choice , but nice to know it is available if needed.
My OOS daughter went off campus sophomore year and it worked out well. Seems most of her friends , both IS and OOS had gone off campus as well. I had originally wanted her to stay on-campus as long as possible, but she found less expensive options off-campus so I gave in.
Good luck.

PA MOM, thanks so much. She has info from Stadium Suites and is leaning that way if need be. My concern was availability, so it is good to hear you say they are easy to get in at a late date. Thanks again.

S is going off campus this year as a junior.Hes going to Pointe West in a 4 bedroom,2 bathroom at $455 a month, 12 month lease. The leases are individual, the apt is furnished and basic cable,HBO and internet are provided.Theres an electricity base included ,they get charged if they go over a certain amount. Theres a shuttle to campus.I believe Stadium Suites was more expensive.Pointe West is over the bridge in Cayce but still really close to campus (maybe 2 miles?)
The $455 a month, even in a 12 month lease is cheaper than he would have paid for any of the upper class apt style housing on campus. We figured them to come to over 600 a month.
If its any consolation, S's friend (female) got a last minute placement last year in the French House, where she really enjoyed living.

Has anyone had experience or heard anything about Sterling Apartments (now garnet river walk)? D is there this year and I'm getting nervous!! Where's French House?

Thanks for the info., she recieved housing yesterday on the third floor of East Quad. Didn't really know it was going to be that expensive, she was in South Tower last year for about half the price. We discussed her options and left it up to her whether to stay on campus or move off. Her decision was to stay on campus this and actively seek off campus housing for next year. Thanks for your help, and all the information both you and PA MOM have provided in the past.

East Quad is nice! She'll have a kitchen, a living room area, a private bedroom too.Remember she won't need to be locked into a food plan either so you save money that way.
